The BILATEST® kits utilize proprietary Magnetic Bead
technology to isolate nucleic acids with both high yield and purity. Their scalability
together with protocols and equipment facilitate quick preparations from very
small to large amounts of sample material. The removal of conventional spin
steps from kit protocols, the high magnetite content of the beads as well as
the easy handling make these kits highly adaptable to automation but also for
manual use. A general scheme for the isolation process is shown. |

complete protocol takes approximately 30 minutes, the expected yield from
10µl whole blood from healthy persons is about 0.2-0.3 µg DNA. The
kit includes a lysis buffer optimized for the lysis of blood cells. |

The BUGS'N
BEADS™ kit extracts bacterial DNA from complex solutions like clinical and
food samples, removing PCR inhibiting components found in these substances. Kit is
available with Standard (S) beads and Clinical (C) beads depending on desired
bacterial strain. The
uniquely coated magnetic beads allow for the immobilisation of bacteria on
the particles, and after lysis, the bacterial DNA is immobilised on the same
particles. This allows the whole assay to take place in just one tube, prior

The new POWERlyse™ solution
is an extremely efficient reagent, developed especially for bacteria such as
Staphylococcus sp., Streptococcus sp, Mycobacterium sp., and Chlamydia
trachomatis elementary bodies. One minute incubation at room temperature is all
that is required to obtain 100% lysis. POWERlyse™ must be
used in conjunction with DNA isolation system using magnetic particles or
other solid phase systems to bind the DNA, since it is not directly
compatible with nucleic acid amplification and must be removed prior to
analysis. POWERlyse™ is
included in all Genpoint's magnetic particle based DNA isolation kits (BUGS'N BEADS™ and chlamCAP).
POWERlyse™ may also
replace the lysis reagents accompanying other DNA isolations whenever working
with bacteria tough to break. |

BILATEST® magnetic stands are designed to guarantee optimal
results in combination with BILATEST® magnetic particle kits.
Naturally BILATEST® stands could also be used with each other kit
on the basis of magnetic particles. BILATEST®
magnetic stands consist out of variably sized transparent acrylic glass
(Plexiglasâ)
blocks allowing users permanent optical control of magnetic separation. All used magnets are durable, extra strong permanent
magnets which guarantee a very fast magnetic separation in varying sample

The Extension Module M20 allows manual magnetic separation in 1.5ml microtubes on the
BILATEST® Separator M96 or BILATEST®
Separator M96 for small volumes, thus replacing BILATEST® Separator
M12+12 for 1.5 ml and 2.0 ml tubes. We recommend this accessory module for occasional
separations with 1.5ml microtubes. For frequent use with 1.5ml microtubes we
